The School Days program for 2010 is entitled "SCIENCE OF SOUND, MUSIC, HISTORY." It is directed towards elementary grade students and their teachers and will impact the understanding of students and teachers about the properties of sound and will offer interdisciplinary learning in the fields of arts and culture, specifically film and music, as well as history and science. Hands-on experiences will offer the participants the opportunity to understand sound production through science, and with its application through music, to recognize its place in history as well as in their daily lives and in their future. The program will enhance the sound curriculum required in elementary schools by the Michigan Curriculum Framework benchmarks.
Tom Kaufmann will again make his Tinkertune's Musical Instrument Petting Zoo available to the students for further understanding and enjoyment of musical sound. Students will experience a short silent movie with a musical soundtrack as well as several of the museum's remarkable mechanical instruments.

The Music House Museum's School Days is a 90-minute tour, available for student groups up to 60 students per group and teachers. The museum personnel are able to pair up smaller groups when scheduling.

Cost: $5.00 per student - teachers and chaperones are free
